Dr. Chesebro's research goals include studies of the following: mechanisms of pathogenesis in TSE or prion diseases, functions of normal prion protein in brain and other tissues, the role of prion protein anchoring to the plasma membrane in normal and prion infected individuals, the role of prion protein mutations in prion strain-specific effects of disease.
